We are all sons of God
John 10:33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
The hypocritical scribes and Pharisees were planning to put Jesus to death by stoning, because He had said that He was a son of God.
John 10:34-36 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
Jesus quoted from the Psalms to document that He was not claiming anything unique in this case by claiming to be the Son of God, because God had already said we are all gods (lower case) and are all His children.
Psa 82:1 God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods.
The word, “God,” is from the Hebrew, “el-o-heem’,” which means, “gods in the ordinary sense; but specifically used (in the plural thus, especially with the article) of the supreme God; occasionally applied by way of deference to magistrates; and sometimes as a superlative.” This word is plural, and when with the article, “the,” it refers to “God Most High and His angels.” And the word, “gods,” is also from “el-o-heem’,” but without the article, so it just means, “the angels.”
Thus this verse states that God Most High judges among the angels.
Psa 82:2 How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah.
The Lord asks, “How long will Israel (and us today) continue to condemn others unjustly while at the same time accepting those people who are lawless?”
The word, “Selah,” means, “think about this.”
Psa 82:3-4 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy. Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.
We are supposed to help the widows and orphans and defend others who are weak and in need in our community. And we should protect them from criminals that threaten them.
Psa 82:5 They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.
But Israel refused to listen and continued to act deceitfully, and in so doing turned all of civilized society upside down.
Psa 82:6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
This is the verse Jesus quoted. The word, “gods,” is again from “el-o-heem’.” Yes, we are gods like the angels, and we are all children of The Most High God.
Psa 82:7 But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.
But remember, we now dwell in flesh bodies. One day we will all die. And “the prince” that fell was Lucifer who rebelled. So all who rebel against God will fall like Lucifer.
Psa 82:8 Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations.
This verse calls upon The Messiah who was to come, Jesus, The Only Begotten Son of God, who when He returns to earth as Promised will Judge us and Inherit All Things.
We are all God’s children and therefore we are all gods (lower case). Our Lord’s distinction from the rest of us was in the fact that He was The Only Begotten Son, meaning that His flesh body was sired by The Most High. For the rest of us, we had fathers dwelling in flesh bodies that sired our flesh bodies.
Whosoever has eyes to see and ears to hear, let him hear.
